Iva Brito is commitment to using her artistry and creativity for the betterment of our community. As an artist, educator, social worker, and entrepreneur, she brings a diverse range of skills and perspectives to her work. A visual and performing artist, she is the author of the poetry book Essence, Tones, Whispers and Shouts, also a contributing author in the book Cabo Verdean Women Writing Remembrance, Resistance, and Revolution. Through her artistry, she not only shares her own voice but also invites others to contemplate and engage with themes of healing, resilience, and social change. She is commitment to amplifying the voices and experiences of marginalized communities, inclusive of The Soul Calling Retreats, a beautiful integration of art, mindfulness, and community healing, providing individuals with a space to reconnect with themselves and each other in a meaningful and transformative way.

Iva is a licensed social worker and holds a Master’s of Science degree in Education. She completed her advanced graduate studies in Expressive Arts at Salve Regina University (SRU). 

Iva has had several leadership roles, most recently serving as the inaugural Director of Bristol Community College Women's Center. Iva's multifaceted experiences as an artist, educator, administrator, and activist led her to answer the calling to launch IBC Inc. Overall, Iva work exemplifies the power of art as a tool for social change, personal transformation, and community healing. Above all, Iva’s greatest role is being the mother to her son.
